I had lunch with Patrick today, and attended a futures trade show with him after that. Patrick was there to man his booth, and introduced me to his friends - most of them former floor traders. My new boss and one of her traders were there too, and we chatted. The conversations were simply delightful, and I feel completely at home. I spoke with unusual ease (in any other social settings, I would have to think very hard about what to say to complete strangers...I am terrified of meeting people because they really tax my brain), and for the first time in months, I could be myself.
I report at my new workplace tomorrow - a few hours from now to be precise. For the first time in my working life, I don't have to agonize over what to wear on my first day of work. HA!
