Down

No trading for me today. I caught the flu. Woke up this morning with a monstrous headache. Managed to make D breakfast, and then I fell asleep on the settee. D gave me a pill before he left for work, and I was knocked out for a good 12 hours.

D brought me to my doctor after he got home from work, and showed Doc the pill he gave me. Doc said that's an extremely strong painkiller meant for someone older and heavier. In other words, I was overdosed. Doc found some ulcers and wondered why I didn't go to him days earlier (I should have been in a lot of pain he said). D asked if it's stress related. Doc replied it's gotta be, cuz my immune system's showing symptoms of shutting down. D said I haven't been sleeping. I asked Doc if he was going to say anything about D overdosing me. Doc asked D why he was prescribed medication meant for elderly suffering from arthritis. That really cracked me up.

Doc wanted me to stay home for tomorrow. I called my new division and gave an update on what I have been working on. I was supposed to be at a meeting today chaired by the Chief, which I missed of course. I have set up a blog to work on my new assignments and for now, it's supported by my superior. I've received a number of messages on my mobile - media wanting stuff - and I've decided that those can wait.

I was at my old neighbourhood yesterday - D was there to file a police report on last week's hit-and-run. A staff sergeant attended to us, and we had some time to chat while he waited for some documents to come in from another department. The staff sergeant opined that a service-oriented approach is not helping the force and that compared to 10 years ago, they are doing worse now. I asked how he came to that conclusion. He replied that when he was a teenager, he was really afraid of the police. But he could see that our men in blue are no longer feared by the community. I asked if he really believed that the police would be more effective if members of public are fearful of them. He nodded.

I guess only time will tell...

D's in-car camera arrived, and was tested in his rental car today. We're playing the day's recording on his computer now. It's mighty powerful, capturing the licence plates of cars in its view and traffic conditions CLEARLY. D's new hobby called up the part of my childhood where I was just crazy about binoculars, and would use them to peek into neighbours' homes. D always thinks I was a delinquent. I understand. I mean, how many sane people would climb over neighbours' fences and into their homes just to dismantle their bikes...

J sent me a song on "coconut" and said that I'd really like it.

J,
you should know by now that I have better taste than this...
But, THANK YOU :-)

I just finished a 3 week vacation and have returned to my real job full-time (i have been part-time for the past 4 years). Haven't given up on trading. Plenty of morning hours to trade.

New platform and new ideas abound! :-)
